These families mark the new disposition of Filipino families which is having a mindset of accepting the trend of gender role reversals.VANDOLPH Quizon, Jericho Rosales and Meg Imperial Due to their aspiration for a quality and better life for their families, especially children, they have dared to challenge the norm of traditional gender roles in the Filipino society and created a new disposition that these roles are interchangeable in respond to the internal (family) and external (society) needs. They were the decision-makers on household concerns (day-to-day basis) and wives are being consulted if there are minor issues such as health problems while on big and/or major issues the couples shares the decision-making. By being the housekeepers they were able to spend more time and be close to the children. They carry out domestic house works by doing the laundry, cooking, marketing/ going to grocery, budgeting, cleaning the house and child rearing. Among the findings are: “househusbands” learned to perform the new role: housekeeper-nurturer within the domestic setting. There were 4 Filipino “househusbands” that go through qualitative in-depth interview and narrative inquiry. The objectives of this research are (1) To provide a background profile of Filipino “househusbands” and their families (2) To identify the gender role reversal practices of the Filipino families with “househusband” fathers, and, (3) To analyze how Filipino “househusbands” practice role reversals in the home with wives working overseas using Theory of Practice by Pierre Bourdieu.
